About Memberships & Licenses
MagicThemes is not like other Template Clubs where you buy "yearly membership". Here, you buy a "limited time license" for your website. Buying a membership gives you your first 1-year license. You must attach this license to your website. Our priority support goes to members whose licenses are attached to their website. You can buy more licenses cheaper after buying a membership.
It's Really Simple
Activating your website to use our templates is just like activating your Windows Serial Key or Game Serial Number. You just log in to our Members Area, enter the URL of your website, click activate and you're done!
Memberships are Forever
Your membership never expires. We have different kinds of memberships to suit the different needs of our users. For now we have opened a Joomla Template Club. Later this year, we might offer a "Joomla Admin Template Club". In the near future, we will offer a Wordpress Theme Club. In the far future we may offer clubs for other CMS like Drupal.
Licenses can be used to download anything while it is active. If you are a member of Joomla Template Club, then you can use your license to download Joomla Templates. If you are a member of Joomla Template Club and Wordpress Themes club, you can use the same license to download Joomla Templates and Wordpress Themes.
Licenses are time limited but it doesn't limit the kind of files you want to download. What limits the kind of files you can download is your Membership which does not expire.
Our system makes sure that you can use your licenses on Templates that were released before its expiration. You can always go back to our downloads area and download the Templates that were released before your license expired. Newly released templates will need active licenses.
It's a Truly Flexible System
A lot of thought has been put into our licensing system. So instead of imitating the system of other template clubs, we thought of something that really cares for our customers.
Think about it, this system makes a lot of sense. You start cheap with only one 1-year license, but if you want to use our templates for more websites, all you need to do is buy more licenses. The licenses you buy doesn't even have to be a "yearly" license. You can buy a 1-month license in case you only want to use the template for the current month, the coming month and the previous months. You'll save money this way! We might earn less, but you always get what you need.
Are you offering a developer license for Unlimited use?
We don't plan to offer a developer license for unlimited use. This is one product that we really don't like.
Think about it: if more and more websites use the same template that you're using, don't you think your website is losing its value? We want more customers, but we don't want our templates to be used all over the net because of unlimited licenses. The less websites that use our templates, the more value for our customers! Less income for us, but we'll survive.
What we plan to offer in the future is to offer a lifetime Joomla Developer Membership which allows developers to buy licenses in bulk at very low prices.
What is the definition of a Website?
If you noticed we're not using the term "domain". We use "website" instead. Website means something more.
A website is simply a Joomla installation. So if you have a domain named example.com, and you have multiple Joomla installations within that domain like example.com/site1, example.com/site2, then that means you need 2 licenses. Each Joomla installation that uses our templates need a license.
Why use this System?
We think that this system gives our customers flexibility. It's a way for them to save money by buying only those that they need. It is a combination of Club Membership System and Per Template Purchase system.
There's no system in place to enforce this system. We can never know how our templates are used, and we don't have a police that monitors how our templates are used. We just trust our customers that they will support us by abiding on these simple rules. We gave are giving them this much, we hope they'll give back by sticking to the rules.
To encourage our users to abide, before we give them priority support, we will verify their licenses.
We also have plans that will require this system in the future. We plan to make a component that updates MagicThemes templates from our customer's website. Our system will first verify if the license key is valid before the template is updated.
How about non-profit websites?
If you are a member of one of our paid memberships and if you have a non-profit website, just email us about it, we'll send you a copy of the template you want. Remember that non-profit is different from no-profit! We won't give you a free template just because your site doesn't earn or has no intention of earning. You must be an real institution or organization registered under your government.
